MG Windsor EV Debuts in India at ₹9.99 Lakh with Innovative Battery Subscription Model

JSW MG Motor India has unveiled its latest addition to the electric vehicle market: the all-new MG Windsor EV, starting at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). Notably, this price excludes the battery pack, which is available on a subscription basis for ₹3.5 per km. This subscription model aims to lower the initial purchase cost.

The MG Windsor EV will be available in three variants: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. Bookings will open on October 3, 2024, with test drives beginning on September 25, 2024.

Equipped with a 38 kWh battery pack and a front-wheel drive electric motor producing 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, the Windsor EV offers four drive modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport. MG claims the vehicle can achieve a range of up to 331 km on a full charge and features a fast-charging capability that replenishes the battery in just 40 minutes.

In terms of design, the MG Windsor EV is based on SAIC’s Wuling Cloud EV, sharing a similar look with its global counterpart. The exterior includes a protruding bumper, low-set headlamps, high-set LED lightbar, and an MPV-like silhouette, but with added gloss black accents.

The interior boasts a minimalist dashboard with a standout 15.6-inch ‘Grandview’ central touchscreen and a freestanding digital instrument display. The Windsor EV also offers a premium rear seat experience, allowing passengers to recline the backrest up to 135 degrees. Additional features include a powered tailgate, 360-degree cameras, wireless phone charging, a six-speaker audio system, and connected car technology.

MG is providing initial owners with a lifetime battery warranty, complimentary charging for the first year, and buyback plans.
