Since its launch on September 21, 2017, the Tata Nexon has been a major success for Tata Motors in India. Building on this momentum, Tata recently introduced the Nexon i-CNG, making it the first vehicle in India to offer four fuel options in a single model. Alongside this, Tata also unveiled the updated Nexon EV with a larger 45 kWh battery for extended range.
But Tata Motors didn’t stop there. The Nexon EV now comes in a striking Red Dark Edition, boasting a refreshed and bold design. Among all these updates, one feature added to the Nexon lineup—including Nexon ICE (Petrol & Diesel), Nexon i-CNG, and Nexon EV—slipped under the radar: a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
Tata Nexon Panoramic Sunroof: The Latest Must-Have Feature
The Nexon was spotted at Tata’s manufacturing plant with a panoramic sunroof, shortly after the launch of the Mahindra XUV300, which had pioneered the dual-pane panoramic sunroof in the sub-4m SUV category. While sunroofs may not be essential in India’s climate, they’ve become a popular and stylish feature for car buyers.
Before this, single-pane sunroofs were the standard in the segment. Now, with Tata Motors adding the dual-pane panoramic sunroof to the Nexon, it significantly boosts the car’s appeal—making it even more competitive and likely to attract more buyers.
A Silent Upgrade with Big Impact
Interestingly, Tata Motors introduced this feature without the typical fanfare seen with other brands, which often launch new features with a standalone marketing campaign. The dual-pane panoramic sunroof is now available in select variants of the Nexon ICE, i-CNG, and EV models. The Fearless+ trim is currently the only variant featuring this upgrade with the PS suffix, while other trims with the “S” suffix continue to offer a single-pane sunroof.
At the time of writing, there hasn’t been any price increase linked to this feature, but it’s expected that more trims could get the panoramic sunroof in the future.
Tata Nexon: Advanced Specs and Features
The Tata Nexon continues to impress with its extensive list of premium features:
- Touchscreen infotainment system: 10.25-inch unit in standard models, and an upgraded 12.3-inch version in the Nexon EV, both supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- Driver display: A 10.25-inch fully digital driver display.
- Premium sound system: 9-speaker JBL sound system.
- Convenience features: Automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, and a 360-degree camera.
- Safety: 6 airbags as standard, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS, and EBD.
For the Tata Nexon CNG variants, Tata has designed a clever solution: factory-installed twin CNG cylinders positioned under the boot, freeing up about 321 liters of boot space—a thoughtful touch also seen in the Tata Punch and Altroz CNG.
